Monthly help buying food, badly under-enrolled among people over 60. This page explains who looks likely to qualify and how to apply — it does not decide, and we never file for you.
Who looks likely to qualify
A household with a member age 60 or older is measured on the NET test only — income after deductions at or below 100% of the poverty guideline. Unreimbursed medical costs above $35 a month come off, and housing costs are deducted with no cap, so many people who look over the line on their gross income actually qualify. This is a different measure again from the Medicare programs.
